Rhonda Howlett, founder of Clocktower Realty Group, has a love for the City of Richmond that dates back to her childhood. Growing up in Mathews, Virginia, a small county on the Chesapeake Bay, Rhonda and her family came to Richmond every year around Christmas time. They would wait what seemed like forever to visit with Santa at the old Miller and Rhodes, do some Christmas shopping, have dinner at one of the city’s incredible restaurants, and end the trip driving through the lights downtown near The James Center.
“I used to get so excited as we drove up the interstate and the city skyline came into view”, Rhonda said. “When I saw the robust outline of Main Street Station, I knew we had arrived.”
When deciding on a name for her real estate firm, Rhonda knew that Main Street Station had to be at the core. “I wanted something that was symbolic of Richmond”, Rhonda said. “As I researched the building, I found that it is not only iconic and beautiful, but that it also has this immense strength.” In fact, the platform of the train shed is still resting on its original trestles, making it the largest intact train trestle system in the country. For Rhonda, the combination of history, beauty, and an extremely strong foundation offered the perfect symbolism of exactly what she wanted her real estate firm to represent.
“Each house, each piece of land, each building has a story,” Rhonda said. “I wanted a brand that was based on bringing out the beauty and the history in everything we do.” The real estate signs for Clocktower Realty Group are jet black, with an outline of Main Street Station and the Clocktower in metallic copper. According to Rhonda “They are beautiful. They are different than all the others. And they are Richmond.”
